Job summary

Tatachilla Lutheran College is seeking a Property Services Officer to maintain turf, landscaping and grounds around buildings. You will coordinate contractors, respond to minor repairs, and keep accurate maintenance records with a focus on safety and compliance.

The role involves managing irrigation, weed control, pruning, and upkeep of fences and gardens, with training in chemical use and WHS practices. Previous grounds experience preferred and a WWCC is required.

Qualifications

• Evidence of prior experience in a similar position.
• Working with Children Check (WWCC) and successful completion of TLC Applicant Declaration form.
• RRHAN-EC – willingness to undertake prior to commencement.
• Protective Practices Certificate – willingness to obtain prior to commencement.
• First Aid Certificate – preferred.
• Hold trade qualifications and / or proven skills, experience, and competence for this position.
• Formal qualifications in Horticulture – preferred.
• Excellent knowledge and experience in the use of tools and equipment associated with grounds maintenance.
• Ability to take initiative and come up with solutions.
• Astute communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Perform compliance maintenance tasks as directed, including stormwater pit, drains, and gutter cleaning.
• Maintain lawns, grassed areas, and ovals at the correct height.
• Manage oval irrigation and irrigation systems; monitor water usage and improve efficiency.
• Control weeds across all college land including ovals, lawns, and edges.
• Trim lawn edges along footpaths and embankments neatly.
• Ensure shrubs and trees are trimmed to prevent encroachment on paths and maintain head height safety.
• Prune rose bushes and ornamental plants in landscaped areas.
• Demonstrate willingness to be trained in safe use and storage of chemicals and weed poisons.
• Check and maintain playground areas; renew soft fall per WHS regulations.
• Renew, upgrade, repair fences, gates, driveway posts, and other deterrents around gardens.
