Job summary

Wild Desert seeks Camp Cooks/Chefs to join our Queensland and South Australian teams. You will deliver food preparation, cooking and service for guests at remote camps, while assisting with cleaning, maintenance and meals within guidelines.

Ideal candidates have Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or 2+ years’ experience, and a valid C class driver’s licence. Pre-employment medical and history checks are required, with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

• Experience in remote environments preferred.
• Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or minimum 2 years experience.
• Manual 'C class' driver's licence.
• Ability to pass pre-employment medical including drug and alcohol screen.
• Current criminal history and traffic check.

Responsibilities

• Prepare meals and provide food service for guests.
• Assist with cleaning, washing, maintenance, waste disposal and room bookings.
• Plan menus and provide meals within set guidelines delivered with pride and professionalism.
• Monitor, order and manage stock levels for camp operations.

About the role

• The delivery of services for guests such as food preparation, cooking and food service.
• Assist with cleaning, washing, general maintenance, waste disposal and room bookings.
• Menu planning and provision of meals within set guidelines that are prepared with pride and professionalism.
• Proactively monitoring, ordering and managing stock levels for the camp operations.

About you

• Prior experience working in a remote environment is an advantage
• Certificate III in Commercial Cookery is preferred or a minimum of 2 years experience
• Manual 'c class' driver's licence
• Ability to be able to pass pre-employment medicalincluding drug and alcohol screen
• Current criminal historyand traffic check
