Job summary

Lake Macquarie City Council is offering a Cadet Project Officer program in Speers Point, NSW. This paid cadetship blends work with university study, mentoring, and real infrastructure projects to support our community.

You'll work with Project Delivery, Engineering, and Quality & Surveillance teams, gaining experience in project planning, procurement, contract administration, stakeholder engagement, and reporting while completing your degree.

Qualifications

• Eligible to enrol in year 2 or later of a relevant Bachelor's degree in 2027.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrate problem-solving and ability to manage competing priorities.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and other digital systems.
• Interest in infrastructure delivery, project management, design, construction.
• Commitment to completing study and cadetship training.
• Enjoy working collaboratively in a high-performing team.
• Hold a White Card (NSW) or willing to obtain one.
• Hold a minimum Provisional Driver Licence.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to delivery of community infrastructure projects.
• Gain experience in project planning, procurement and contract management.
• Work with consultants, contractors and project teams.
• Assist with technical research, reporting and project documentation.
• Learn how projects are delivered safely, sustainably, on time and within budget.
• Develop knowledge of quality assurance, compliance and regulatory processes.
• Build your professional skills through mentoring, training and real-world experience.

Education

Bachelor of Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, Architecture, Planning or related discipline
