Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Cadet Drafter to join our Adelaide Resources, Industrial & Energy team. You will assist in the delivery of mining infrastructure, mid-stream Oil & Gas, and energy projects, working with Project Managers, Engineers and Digital specialists to develop mechanical and electrical drawings using AutoCAD.

This developmental role offers exposure to isometric drawings, P&ID diagrams, 3D modeling, and evolving design standards within a large global firm with hybrid work options.

Qualifications

  • Enrolled or eligible to enroll in an Associate Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or similar Associate Degree/ Advanced Diploma)

Responsibilities

  • Produce isometric drawings and P&ID diagrams
  • Create 3D structural, mechanical and piping models
  • Develop high quality drafting outputs and drawings
  • Liaise with designers and project engineers to ensure timely delivery of outputs
  • Support lead designer to align design standards across the Energy business line

Job Description

This is a new position to support our growing team in Adelaide and will allow you to operate across a multi-functional business, working alongside Project Managers, Engineers, Designers and Digital Engineering specialists to deliver some of our major projects.

As a Cadet Drafter, you will work as part of a team to assist with delivery of the Adelaide Resources, Industrial & Energy team design projects covering major mining infrastructure, mid-stream Oil & Gas and fuel systems including future fuels such as hydrogen as well as across the energy market including renewables, transmission & distribution & generation. This role is a developmental role where you will grow your skill base and acquire a more specialised understanding of drafting and design concepts and processes using AutoCAD and other software packages.

  • Producing designs and associated mechanical and electrical engineering drawings not limited to;
  • Isometric drawings
  • Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID’s)
  • 3D structural, mechanical and piping models
  • Single Line Diagrams / Protection Control Diagrams
  • Schematics
  • Equipment Layouts and sections
  • Wiring & Control Diagrams
  • Cable Schedules
  • Develop high quality models, drawings and checking skills;
  • Liaison with designers and project team engineers to ensure timely delivery of project outputs;
  • Work with lead designer to assist with aligning design standards and processes with the rest of the Energy business line.
