Job description

Business Development / Marketing Specialist. (Tech/Services B2B)

This role sits where sales meets marketing. An external agency looks after the production side of our marketing, so you won't be spending your days writing copy or building landing pages. Your job is setting the direction, working the leads that come in, picking up the phone, building relationships with Microsoft and the people around us, and showing up in person.

If you like turning a conversation into a meeting in the diary and want your work judged on pipeline and revenue rather than activity, this is the role.

365 Mechanix is a Microsoft technology consultancy.

We build with Dynamics 365, Power Platform, Copilot, and Azure. Automating processes, unlocking data, and turning Microsoft technology into real business outcomes. In Australia, New Zealand, and beyond.

What you'll do
Every week
  • Microsoft co-sell and partner engagement. Build and maintain our relationship with Microsoft's account and partner teams. Register and progress co-sell opportunities in Partner Centre, keep Microsoft across what we're pursuing, and find the deals where we can work together.
  • Inbound lead follow-up. Pick up every lead that comes in from campaigns, the website and events, and do it quickly. Qualify it, get it in front of the right person, and keep the CRM accurate so nobody has to ask what happened to a lead.
  • Outbound call-downs and pipeline generation. Work target lists by creative marketing methods: contacts from events, past clients, financial services accounts and Microsoft referrals. The goal is booked discovery meetings for our consultants and sales leads.
Every month
  • Campaign briefs and strategy. Own the brief for each campaign: who we're talking to, what we want to say, what we want them to do, how we follow up and how we capture the lead. Hand it to the agency, review what comes back and sign it off. You're the agency's day-to-day contact, and you tell them how the leads turned out so the next campaign is better.
  • Case studies. Lead them. Find the project worth telling, talk to our consultants and the client to get the real story, take it through client approval, then pass it to the agency to polish. It needs someone who knows the client and the work, which is why it stays with us.
  • Event coordination. Be the single point of coordination for the events we host and attend, including channel partner events: logistics, who's going, briefing the team, collateral from the agency and a follow-up plan for afterwards. You're at the event, not just organising it.
  • Financial services community. Support our leadership's work with the wider financial services community. Make sure the introductions and conversations that happen there turn into follow-up, and that every contact lands in the CRM.
What you'll bring
  • 3 - 7 years in sales, business development, marketing or partner roles, with a track record of generating pipeline (meetings booked and opportunities created), not just activity.
  • You're motivated and hungry for success.
  • A B2B IT or SaaS background, ideally on the partner side, so you understand the sales cycle, the buyer and what 'qualified' actually means.
  • Disciplined CRM habits, ideally in Dynamics 365.
  • Experience coordinating events, from hosted breakfasts and partner events through to conferences.
  • Clear written communication. You can write a brief an agency can run with and tell quickly whether what comes back is right.
Strongly preferred
  • Experience with Microsoft co-sell, Partner Centre or working alongside Microsoft account teams, ideally from the partner or ISV side.
  • Familiarity with Dynamics 365 Marketing (Customer Insights – Journeys) or a similar customer journey tool, enough to brief the agency and read the results.
  • Understands and focuses on sales cycles.
  • Experience marketing Microsoft Dynamics 365, Power Platform or Copilot solutions.
  • Familiarity with the Australian financial services market.
  • Experience working with or alongside an external marketing agency.
How you work
  • Focused on Time and priorities
  • Highly organised, and able to juggle several things at once
  • Self-motivated: you don't need someone checking in daily
  • Resilient and persistent
  • A growth mindset
What good looks like
  • Inbound leads are picked up fast and nothing sits unanswered
  • Briefs reach the agency on time, and what comes back needs little rework
  • Every event has a follow-up plan, and everyone we met has been contacted
  • Microsoft's account teams know who you are, and our co-sell opportunities in Partner Centre are up to date
  • A steady flow of case studies, with client approval
