Job summary

Davidson is seeking an experienced Business Analyst / Data Analyst to support a government transformation portfolio in Geelong. You will consolidate multiple source registers into a single validated dataset and create a consistent view of active initiatives.

The role involves working with complex Excel-based registers, identifying discrepancies, and documenting remediation steps for management validation. A strong analytical mindset is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience integrating and reconciling data from multiple inconsistent source systems.
• Strong Excel skills: formulas, pivot tables and data validation.
• Experience using Power Query or equivalent to merge/manage large datasets.
• Knowledge of project and portfolio management artefacts: schedules, RAID logs, baselines.

Responsibilities

• Develop a master initiative crosswalk across multiple source registers.
• Consolidate schedule, risk, issue, benefits, status and forecast data under common identifiers.
• Reconcile initiative population against inclusion rules and document exceptions.
• Populate baseline templates for all active initiatives with dates, dependencies, resources, and key info.
• Validate and releink schedule dependencies (predecessors/successors).
• Review risk/issue registers with ownership, dates and status.
• Assess risk/issue data against the organisation's framework and RAID conventions.
• Reconcile financial reporting bases and document the basis for each figure.
• Review health indicators to reflect delivery performance.
• Log data conflicts between sources for management review.
• Maintain a data quality tracker with fields, sources, issues, remediation.

About the Role

Seeking an experienced Business Analyst / Data Analyst to support a transformation portfolio by consolidating multiple source registers into a single, validated and traceable dataset.

ou will work across a range of portfolio and project management artefacts to create a consistent and reliable view of the organisation's active initiatives.

The successful candidate will be highly analytical, detail-oriented and comfortable working with complex Excel-based registers and inconsistent source data. You will be expected to identify, document and escape discrepancies for management validation, ensuring that data conflicts are clearly recorded rather than hidden or independently resolved.

Key responsibilities

• Develop a master initiative crosswalk reconciling names and identifiers across multiple source registers.
• Bring together schedule, risk, issue, benefits, status and forecast data under common initiative identifiers.
• Reconcile the initiative population against an agreed inclusion rule and document any exceptions.
• Populate initiative baseline templates for all active initiatives, including:
  • Baseline dates
  • Dependencies
  • Resource requirements
  • Key delivery information
• Validate and relink schedule dependencies, including predecessor and successor relationships.
• Review risk and issue registers for completeness, including ownership, review dates and status.
• Assess risk and issue information against the organisation's risk framework and RAID conventions.
• Reconcile the financial reporting bases currently in use and document the basis supporting each reported figure.
• Review status and health indicators to ensure they accurately reflect underlying delivery performance.
• Identify and log data conflicts between source registers for management review.
• Maintain a data quality tracker documenting fields, sources, issues and remediation status.
• Prepare a concise handover briefing outlining residual gaps, assumptions and outstanding matters.

About You

• Demonstrated experience integrating and reconciling data from multiple, inconsistent source systems.
• Strong Excel skills, including formulas, pivot tables and data validation.
• Experience using Power Query, or an equivalent tool, to merge and manage large datasets.
• Working knowledge of project and portfolio management artefacts, including schedules, RAID logs, benefits registers and baselines.
• Strong attention to detail and a clear focus on data quality, consistency and traceability.
• The ability to identify and document discrepancies without concealing or independently resolving them.
• Strong written communication skills, particularly when documenting assumptions, gaps and reconciliation logic.
• The ability to manage commercially sensitive portfolio information with discretion.
