Job summary

SOCOTEC is a building enclosure and construction advisory specialist. We seek an experienced consultant to undertake design, detailing and analysis for high-performance buildings, advise clients on performance and constructability, and lead field reviews throughout projects.

With 5–10 years of enclosure consulting experience and licensure, you will collaborate with architects and owners, travel up to 30%, and contribute to multi-disciplinary teams using 2D/3D CAD tools.

Qualifications

5–10 years experience in building enclosure consulting and project management.
Registered Architect/Licensed Engineer in the states WA, CA, CO, AZ, HI, TX, OR, ID, MT, UT.
Experience with client relations, preparation of construction documents, bidding, and construction administration.
Experience with quality assurance reviews with construction drawings and specifications.
Experience with detailed-level reviews of Division 07 and 08 submittal and shop drawings.
Familiar with exterior curtain wall, window wall, glass, masonry, concrete, air-barrier, coating, sealant, and metal panel systems.
Familiar with roofing and below-grade waterproofing systems.
Familiar with existing building code and code requirements for remediation within the built environment.

Responsibilities

Undertake building enclosure design, detailing and analysis, and participate in testing, fabrication and construction administration.
Advise architects, owners, contractors, developers and property managers on building enclosure performance, constructability, and durability.
Conduct/oversee field review and progress inspection on designated projects.
Conduct/oversee assessment reports for existing structures which may include root cause analysis and repair recommendations.
Document and maintain well written reports on project activity from initial proposal through completion.
Ensure familiarity with building codes in local markets.
Advise management on project performance, status, scheduling, and estimates for completion.
Communicate effectively with clients and project teams.
Produce details via hand sketching and using 2D and 3D CAD packages.
Provide cross-functional support to ensure client needs and timelines are met.
Break down technical needs/deliverables; assist in managing budgetary requirements.
Provide manpower updates and resource availability.
Occasional presentation of white papers/case studies to technical teams.
Manage staff or team and mentor.
Perform all other duties as assigned by supervisor.
