Job summary

VeiraMal Consulting in Melbourne is seeking a Building Construction Supervisor to oversee day-to-day construction of luxury homes and townhouses for Barucija Building Company Pty Ltd in Highett. The role is predominantly site-based with opportunities to work from home 1–2 days per week for planning and coordination.

You will ensure safe, efficient delivery in line with drawings, specs and quality standards, coordinate subcontractors and materials, and contribute to sustainable building practices

Qualifications

• Relevant qualification in Building, Construction Management, Architecture or related discipline.
• Previous experience in residential construction, site supervision or construction coordination.
• Knowledge of NCC, safety regulations and sustainable building practices.

Responsibilities

• Assist the builder in planning, organising and supervising daily construction activities across residential building sites.
• Coordinate subcontractors, tradespeople, suppliers and construction activities to maintain efficient project delivery.
• Monitor construction progress against drawings, specifications, schedules and quality requirements.
• Conduct regular site inspections to identify workmanship issues, construction defects and discrepancies.
• Interpret architectural, structural and technical documentation to support accurate construction and high-quality finishes.
• Support sustainable construction practices, energy efficiency and material selection.
• Monitor correct installation of insulation, glazing and building envelopes per specifications.
• Coordinate materials, deliveries and site resources to minimise delays and waste.
• Assist with scheduling, cost monitoring, progress reporting and project documentation.

About the Role

We are seeking a motivated and highly organised Building Construction Supervisor to support the builder in overseeing and coordinating the day-to-day construction of new luxury homes and townhouses. The successful candidate will bring a sound understanding of residential construction methods, architectural documentation and sustainable building principles, ensuring projects are delivered efficiently, safely and in accordance with approved drawings, specifications and quality standards.

This is a predominantly site-based position, with flexibility to work from home approximately 1–2 days per week for construction planning, scheduling, reporting and project coordination, depending on project requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist the builder in planning, organising and supervising daily construction activities across residential building sites.
• Coordinate subcontractors, tradespeople, suppliers and construction activities to maintain efficient project delivery.
• Monitor construction progress against approved architectural and structural drawings, specifications, schedules and quality requirements.
• Conduct regular site inspections to identify workmanship issues, construction defects and discrepancies.
• Interpret architectural, structural and technical documentation to support accurate construction and high-quality architectural finishes.
• Support the implementation of sustainable construction practices, including energy efficiency, thermal performance, material selection and waste minimisation.
• Monitor the correct installation of insulation, glazing, building envelopes and other energy-efficient construction elements in accordance with approved specifications.
• Coordinate building materials, deliveries, equipment and site resources to minimise delays and unnecessary waste.
• Assist with construction scheduling, cost monitoring, progress reporting and project documentation.
• Liaise with engineers, building surveyors, architects, consultants and contractors to resolve technical and construction-related matters.
• Monitor site safety, workmanship and compliance with applicable building regulations, construction standards and sustainability requirements.
• Maintain accurate site records, inspection reports and project progress updates.
• Assist the builder in coordinating construction milestones, inspections, defect rectification and project handover.

Qualifications and Experience

• Relevant qualification in Building, Construction Management, Architecture, Architectural Technology or a related discipline.
• Previous experience in residential construction, site supervision or construction coordination, preferably involving new luxury homes or townhouse developments.
• Sound understanding of residential construction methods, building materials and construction processes.
• An architectural background or experience working with architectural documentation will be highly regarded.
• Knowledge of sustainable building principles, energy-efficient construction methods and environmentally responsible building practices is highly desirable.
• Ability to interpret architectural and structural drawings, construction details and technical specifications.
• Understanding of Australian building regulations, the National Construction Code (NCC), construction quality standards and workplace safety requirements.
• Strong organisational, communication and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to coordinate subcontractors, suppliers and construction activities effectively.
• Current driver's licence and willingness to travel between construction sites.
