Job summary

BAI Communications is seeking an Electronics Technician with RF experience to maintain transmission systems and related infrastructure across our Australian network. You will participate in installation, maintenance and repair of broadcast equipment while complying with safety standards and reporting requirements.

The role involves on-call readiness, after-hours shifts, and occasional travel. A current driver’s licence and teamwork skills are essential.

Qualifications

  • Electronics Technician with RF experience and maintenance of transmission equipment preferred; qualified techs without broadcast/communications experience considered.
  • Current Drivers Licence is required.
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team.
  • Ability to learn in a rapidly changing technological environment.
  • Flexible hours with after-hours shifts and travel as needed.
  • Pre-employment medical and annual criminal history check are required.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to on-the-job training with team members in service restoration and maintenance of transmission systems.
  • With training, be on-call when skills develop.
  • Ensure health and safety processes are followed.
  • Participate in installation, maintenance and repair of broadcast equipment.
  • Conduct performance testing under supervision to prove compliance.
  • Prepare reports and complete work orders and fault tickets.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Maintain a variety of transmission systems and associated infrastructure to meet customer requirements.

Key responsibilities will include:
  • Responds effectively to on-the -job training with various team members in service restoration, corrective and preventative maintenance of our client’s transmission systems and infrastructure.
  • With on-the -job training, will be on-call when skills and experience have developed
  • Fully aware of work health and safety processes and EMR awareness
  • Participates in the installation, maintenance, and repair of broadcast and communication equipment
  • Proof of Performance Testing – with on-the- job training and supervision is capable of completing performance tests on all equipment to prove contract compliance
  • Participates in district activities including site facility management as directed
  • Implements appropriate service restoration actions and escalates technical issues to field callout technician
  • Provide written and verbal reports to the Network Operations Centre and carry out office and site housekeeping and field support activities as required
  • Accurately completes all reporting associated with their work including the completion of Work Orders and fault tickets
  • Undertakes all activities in line with the BAI Communications Health and Safety Policy. Reports all near misses, incidents according to the procedures, promptly and clearly with all the required detail.
  • Adopt a working style in line with the BAI Communications Business
ABOUT YOU
  • Electronics Technician with RF experience and a background in maintenance of transmission equipment is preferred. However, the incumbent may be a qualified technician who may not have experience on broadcast or communications equipment
  • Current Drivers Licence
  • Has sound interpersonal skills including the ability to liaise with others and a proven ability to work as part of a team
  • Demonstrates an ability to learn in a rapidly changing technological environment
  • Flexible working hours and after-hours shifts
  • Willingness to travel away fromhomeevery other month
  • This role will be subject to pre-employment and routine medical assessment (with a suitable medical practitioner) to confirm fitness for duty.
  • Working on the Public Safety Network sites predominantly, you will be required to complete an annual criminal history check.
