Job summary

Communify is seeking a compassionate Brief Intervention Worker to join the Bardon Neighbourhood Centre team on a part-time basis (3 days per week). The role delivers brief interventions, crisis support, advocacy and practical assistance to individuals and families, while fostering resilience and community access to services.

You will conduct assessments, coordinate referrals, support emergency relief programs and engage with financial inclusion initiatives, including NILS.

Qualifications

• Qualifications or equivalent experience in community services, social work, or counselling.
• Experience working with individuals and families experiencing complex needs.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• Strong organisational and time management abilities.
• Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Provide brief intervention, crisis support and practical assistance to individuals and families.
• Conduct client assessments and develop appropriate support responses.
• Provide information, referrals and advocacy.
• Support emergency relief and community-based programs.
• Assist with No Interest Loans Scheme (NILS) and other financial inclusion initiatives.
• Develop and facilitate community groups, activities and events.
• Build strong relationships with local services and community stakeholders.
• Maintain accurate client records and reporting requirements.
• Support volunteers and students within the service.
