Job summary

Thiess WA is seeking a Breakdown Specialist to join our Maintenance Team on an 8/6 Day Shift roster. You will focus on breakdowns of Light Vehicles and ancillary equipment, delivering servicing and repair in a high‑hazard mining environment.

Automotive Trade Certification (Light Vehicle) or equivalent is required, with post‑trade mining experience preferred. A commitment to safety and the ability to work across Toyota vehicles and HVAC systems will help you succeed.

Qualifications

• Automotive Trade qualification in Light Vehicle Mechanical or equivalent.
• Post-trade experience in Mining or Heavy Earth Moving.
• Experience with Vehicle Air Conditioning systems desirable.
• Experience in maintenance, breakdowns, component change-outs and servicing Toyota vehicles.
• Commitment to health and safety at all times.

Responsibilities

• Specialising in breakdowns of Light Vehicles, Ancillary vehicles and electrical work.
• Servicing, repair and maintenance of mobile fleet and equipment per Thiess systems documentation.
• Source technical information from reference manuals, bulletins, OEM and computer systems.
• Ensure good housekeeping standards are maintained at all times.
• Provide technical information to staff and operations personnel.
• Conduct technical inspections and job estimations.

About the role

As our next LV Breakdown Specialist to proudly represent our Maintenance Team on an 8/6 Day Shift only roster, you will live for challenges and thrive on the variety of work available. In this role, you will:

• Specialising in breakdowns of Light Vehicles, Ancillary vehicles and electrical work.
• Perform the servicing, repair and maintenance of mobile fleet and other equipment in accordance with Thiess servicing, lubrication and maintenance systems documentation.
• Source technical information from the relevant available reference manuals, technical bulletins, OEM and computer based systems.
• Ensure good housekeeping standards are maintained at all times.
• Provide technical information to staff and operations personnel.
• Conduct technical inspections and job estimations.

About you

• Automotive Trade (Light Vehicle Mechanical) or relevant equivalent
• Post-trade experience working in the Mining or Heavy Earth Moving industry
• Experience in Vehicle Air Conditioning systems desired
• Experience in general maintenance, breakdowns, component change outs and servicing of Toyota vehicles
• You will also need to possess a high regard for and practice health and safety at all times
