Job summary

GHD is seeking a Technical Director – Botany to join our Ecology team in Perth. You will lead ecological projects, oversee technical reviews, and drive quality deliverables across a range of environmental assessments.

The role requires a Bachelor in environmental science or ecology and 10+ years of ecology experience, preferably in WA, with strong client engagement and leadership capabilities. A driver’s license is essential, and travel to remote locations is expected.

Qualifications

Bachelor degree in environmental science or ecology.
10+ years ecology experience; WA preferred but not mandatory.
Current driver’s license (C class).
Sound understanding of environmental issues and legislation.
Strong experience in proposal development, project delivery and teamwork.
Demonstrated leadership and mentoring of junior team members.

Responsibilities

Involved in technical review and assurance of deliverables.
Provide high-level review of technical reports and documentation for referrals and environmental assessments.
Scope and lead biological surveys across Western Australia.
Lead and contribute to winning proposals to grow the business.
Travel across the state for surveys, including remote locations.
Conduct complex biological surveys and provide technical direction as needed.
Maintain knowledge of ecology industry regulations and approvals.
Make technical decisions and provide solutions based on expertise.
Provide leadership and mentoring to ecology team members.
