Job summary

GHD is seeking a Botanist to join our Ecology team in Perth. You will lead botanical surveys across WA, prepare ecological reports, and contribute to referrals and environmental assessments. The role involves travel to remote locations for extended survey periods and mentoring junior staff.

Relocation to Western Australia may be considered. A Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science or Ecology and 5+ years of botanist experience are preferred, with a valid C-class driver’s license and strong

  • 5+ years’ relevant botanist experience in consultancy or similar.
  • Current drivers’ licence (C class), manual preferred.
  • Sound understanding of current environmental issues and legislation.
  • Experience in proposal development and project management.
  • Experience supervising junior team members and mentoring.
  • Ability to deliver critical project outcomes under pressure.

  • Undertaking and leading botanical surveys throughout Western Australia, including flora and community surveys and identification.
  • Preparing technical reports, vegetation and flora assessments, and documentation for referrals and environmental assessments.
  • Preparing winning proposals to support business growth.
  • Travel throughout the state to undertake surveys, including remote locations for extended periods.
  • Conducting ecology surveys and assessments.
  • Maintaining knowledge of ecology and botanical guidance and approvals.
  • Making technical decisions and providing solutions based on expertise.

We’re looking for Botanist professionals to join our Ecology team in Perth.

Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:
  • Undertaking and leading botanical surveys throughout the State including detailed, basic, and targeted flora and community surveys and subsequent flora identification.
  • Preparing technical reports including vegetation and flora assessments, clearing assessments and documentation to support referrals and environmental assessments.
  • Preparing winning proposals to support business growth.
  • Travel throughout the state to undertake surveys, often in remote locations for extended survey periods.
  • Conducting specific ecology surveys and assessments.
  • Maintain knowledge of ecology and botanical guidance and approvals.
  • Making technical decisions and providing solutions based on expertise.
What will you bring to the team?
  • Bachelor degree qualification in environmental science or ecology discipline.
  • 5+ years’ relevant experience consulting as a botanist, preferably within Western Australia but not essential
  • Current drivers’ licence (c class), manual preferred.
  • Proven experience in and a sound understanding of current environmental issues and legislation.
  • Proven experience in proposal development and project management and working as part of a team.
  • Proven experience in supervision of junior team members, with the ability to mentor.
  • Ability to deliver critical project outcomes under pressure with enthusiasm and drive.

Relocation to WA from within Australia will be considered.
