Job summary

HR Partners in Geelong seeks an experienced Bookkeeper & Team Leader for a busy bookkeeping practice serving multiple small business clients. You will balance client-facing bookkeeping with overseeing daily workflow and supporting a small, dedicated team.

The role requires 3+ years in a multi-client environment, BAS Agent qualification (or pursuing it), and strong knowledge of Xero, MYOB, and receipt tools. You will lead, mentor and ensure timely, accurate financials.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in a multi-client bookkeeping or accounting practice environment.
• Registered BAS Agent qualification or working towards it.
• Expert knowledge of Xero, MYOB, and receipt management tools.
• Demonstrated leadership, mentoring, or supervisory experience.
• Strong communication skills and a friendly, confident client manner.
• High attention to detail and ability to prioritise in a busy environment.

Responsibilities

• End-to-end client bookkeeping, payroll, superannuation, BAS/IAS prep, bank reconciliations, and month-end reporting for multiple clients.
• Oversee daily workflow and allocate tasks to the team to meet deadlines.
• Onboard new clients, manage queries, and optimise workflows across cloud accounting platforms.
• Spot bottlenecks and improve practice workflows for efficiency.

Are you an experienced bookkeeper who thrives in a fast-paced environment and natural at supporting others? Our client, a busy, growing bookkeeping practice in Geelong managing a diverse portfolio of small business clients, and we are looking for a skilled Bookkeeper & Team Leader to join their team.

The Role

You will balance client-facing bookkeeping with overseeing daily workflow, ensuring high standards across our client accounts, and supporting a small, dedicated team.

Key Responsibilities

• Client Bookkeeping: End-to-end processing, payroll, superannuation, BAS/IAS preparation, bank reconciliations, and month-end reporting for multiple small business clients.
• Team Leadership: Allocating daily tasks, reviewing work quality, providing guidance to junior staff, and helping the team hit deadlines.
• Client & Software Support: Onboarding new clients, managing queries, and optimizing workflows across cloud accounting platforms (Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks).
• Process Improvement: Spotting bottlenecks and keeping practice workflows smooth and efficient.

What We Are Looking For

• 3+ years of experience in a multi-client bookkeeping or accounting practice environment.
• Registered BAS Agent qualification (or working towards it) is highly regarded.
• Expert knowledge of Xero, MYOB, and receipt management tools (Hubdoc, Dext, etc.).
• Demonstrated leadership, mentoring, or supervisory experience.
