Job summary

Thompsoncook is seeking a hands-on Bookkeeper to join our Australian property group. You will own day‑to‑day financial operations across multiple entities and work closely with senior leadership to maintain accurate records and support growth.

This varied role covers the full accounting cycle and is ideal for an experienced bookkeeper who enjoys taking ownership and working autonomously. Strong WFH flexibility is offered within a Sydney inner‑west context.

Qualifications

• 2+ years' experience in a Bookkeeping, Accounts All‑Rounder or similar accounting role.
• Strong experience across AP, AR, reconciliations and general bookkeeping.
• Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
• Ability to work autonomously and take ownership of responsibilities.
• Strong communication skills and confidence liaising directly with business owners and senior stakeholders.
• Exposure to Xero (highly regarded).

Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate financial records across multiple entities and business units.
• Manage full accounts payable and accounts receivable functions.
• Process invoices, payments and day‑to‑day financial transactions.
• Complete daily and monthly bank and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Prepare and lodge BAS, GST and other compliance requirements.
• Assist with maintenance and improvement of the chart of accounts.
• Clean up existing bookkeeping records and implement improved processes.
• Ensure consistency and accuracy of financial information across the business.

Working closely with senior leadership, you will take ownership of the day‑to‑day financial operations across a growing group of entities, playing a key role in maintaining accurate financial records and supporting the continued growth of the business.

The Challenge
