Job summary

Dawsons Engineering in Cairns, Australia, is seeking a Boilermaker Fabricator / Welder for heavy structural steel and platework. You will read and interpret engineering drawings, perform FCAW/GMAW welding to strict standards, and operate heavy workshop machinery with a focus on safety and quality on site.

Ideal candidates have a trade certificate in Boilermaking/Heavy Fabrication and proven experience on heavy structural or mining-related platework.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification: Australian Recognized Trade Certificate in Boilermaking / Heavy Fabrication.
• Proven experience on heavy structural steel projects or mining/industrial platework.
• Proficient in FCAW welding and positional welding.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate and assemble heavy structural steel sections and heavy platework.
• Interpret technical engineering drawings and structural blueprints accurately.
• Perform welding to strict structural standards using FCAW and GMAW.
• Operate heavy workshop machinery (grinders, oxy-cutters, overhead cranes).
• Maintain rigorous safety standards on-site and in the workshop.
