Job summary

North Queensland Bulk Ports Corporation in Mackay, QLD, is seeking a trade-qualified boilermaker to deliver welding and fabrication services, maintain plant and equipment, and support shipping activities. You will read plans, handle inquiries, meet daily targets, and contribute to safety and cost-saving improvements.

Desirable is Coxswain Grade 1 near coastal certification; MSIC or ability to obtain within three months is required.

Reporting to the Team Leader- Maintenance, this role delivers NQBP’s welding and fabrication services to existing and potential customers and undertakes shipping activities. This includes fabrication and maintenance of structures and plant and equipment, sourcing and costing resources & supplies and maintaining all fabrication and welding equipment. The successful candidate will be given the opportunity to implement improvements that drive safety, effectiveness and cost savings.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • To hold a Maritime Security Identification Card (MSIC) or the ability to obtain a MSIC within three months of commencing employment.
  • Completion of Boilermaker trade certificate with subsequent relevant work experience in steel, stainless steel and aluminum fabrication and maintenance activities for structures, plant and equipment.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and read plans and specifications.
  • Experience responding promptly and courteously to a range of routine enquires.
  • Experience completing everyday tasks and meet daily set work targets and timelines.

Broad knowledge in general civil and structural construction, maritime or seaport knowledge, current high-risk licences and willingness to obtain and maintain a Coxswain Grade 1 near coastal certificate is considered desirable criteria.
