Wales Truck Repairs, located in Smithfield, NSW, is part of AMA Group – Heavy Motors and specialises in heavy vehicle body repairs and fabrication. We seek a qualified Body Builder to join the team, reporting to the Production Manager and contributing to safe, efficient builds and repairs.

The role involves repairing, fabricating, assembling and fitting truck and trailer bodies to high standards, with an emphasis on safety and quality.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification preferred in Body Building, Metal Fabrication, Boilermaking or related trade.
• Experience working on heavy vehicles, truck bodies, trailers or commercial vehicle repairs.
• Strong fabrication, welding and fitting skills.

Responsibilities

• Repair, modify and fabricate truck, trailer and heavy vehicle bodies.
• Assemble and fit body components, panels and structural parts.
• Interpret job specifications and drawings to complete repairs and builds.
• Carry out welding, cutting, fitting and metal fabrication as required.
• Ensure work complies with safety, processes and quality standards.
• Maintain tools, equipment and work areas in a safe, efficient state.

The Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for a qualified Body Builder to join our team at Wales Truck Repairs in Smithfield.

Reporting to the Production Manager, you will be responsible for the repair, fabrication, assembly and fit-out of truck and trailer bodies, ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.

Key Responsibilities

• Repair, modify and fabricate truck, trailer and heavy vehicle bodies
• Assemble and fit body components, panels and structural parts
• Interpret job specifications and technical drawings to complete repairs and builds
• Carry out welding, cutting, fitting and metal fabrication activities as required
• Ensure all work is completed in line with company processes, safety standards and quality expectations
• Maintain tools, equipment and work areas to a safe and efficient standard

About You

• Trade qualification in Body Building, Metal Fabrication, Boilermaking or a related trade (preferred)
• Experience working on heavy vehicles, truck bodies, trailers or commercial vehicle repairs
• Strong fabrication, welding and fitting skills
• Full Australian working rights and a valid driver's licence
