Sullivan Nicolaides Pathology (SNP) is seeking a motivated Biochemistry Laboratory Scientist to join the Special Chemistry Section in our high-volume clinical biochemistry laboratory. You will contribute to diagnostic testing, quality assurance, and timely reporting to support patient care.

• A Degree in Medical Laboratory Science or other relevant qualification (essential).
• Experience in pathology or Clinical Biochemistry is preferred.
• Familiarity with mass spectrometry, ICP-MS, or HPLC techniques.
• Strong attention to detail and specimen handling accuracy.
• Excellent organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Laboratory Scientist to join our high-volume Clinical Biochemistry laboratory. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a team committed to excellence in diagnostic testing, quality assurance, and patient care. You will play a vital role in delivering accurate and timely results that directly support clinical decision-making and positive patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Operation of ICP-MS instrumentation for trace element analysis
• Performance of specialised manual and semi-automated assays
• Automated and manual sample preparation for laboratory analysis
• Renal stone analysis using FTIR technology
• Review, validation, and release of clinical reports and patient results
• Maintain compliance with laboratory quality systems, WHS requirements, and accreditation standards

What we are looking for

We are looking for a highly motivated and adaptable professional who thrives in a busy laboratory environment and is committed to delivering accurate, high-quality results.

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

• A Degree in Medical Laboratory Science or other relevant qualification (essential)
• Previous experience in pathology, Clinical Biochemistry, or a multi-disciplinary laboratory environment
• Familiarity with mass spectrometry, ICP-MS, or HPLC techniques
• Strong attention to detail and specimen handling accuracy
• Excellent organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Sound judgement and decision-making abilities, particularly under pressure
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team
• Initiative, self-motivation, and commitment to ongoing professional development
• A willingness to contribute beyond core duties when required
• Recent graduates are encouraged to apply, with comprehensive training provided.

Working Hours

This role involves rotating shifts between 6:00am and 9:00pm, Monday to Friday, with participation in a weekend and public holiday roster.
