Job summary

Mercy Health is seeking a Billing Officer for the North Richmond Office with hybrid working options. The role focuses on accurate processing of patient billing across multiple sites and systems, ensuring compliance with health funding models and payer requirements.

You will support revenue integrity, provide guidance to the team, and contribute to high-quality patient service in a large, for-purpose healthcare organisation.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in a Billing Officer role within the hospital sector.
• Experience with iPM billing.
• Attention to detail and commitment to accurate work.
• Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
• Customer service focus and commitment to quality.

Responsibilities

• Process patient billing across multiple systems and sites in a timely, accurate manner.
• Ensure compliance with Medicare, private health insurance and regulatory requirements.
• Support revenue integrity and deliver high-quality service to patients and stakeholders.
• Provide guidance and education to other team members within the Group Billing and Receivables team.

About the opportunity

TheGroup Billing and Receivables functionis a centralised Support Servicethat undertakesbilling andreceivableactivities across Mercy Health.

Led by the Group Billing and Receivables Manager, Health Services, the functioncomprisesmultiple teams that support the Health Service and Health Ageing business streams.

The_ Billing Officer _ is responsible fortheaccurateandtimelyprocessing of patient billingacross multiple systems and multiple sites, health fundclaims,inaccordance withAustralian healthcare funding models. This role ensures compliance with Medicare, private health insurance, and regulatory requirements while supporting revenue integrity and delivering high-quality service to patients and stakeholders.

The role will also develop an understanding and oversight of all billing functions performed by theGroupBillings and Receivables Team whilst providingguidance,supportand educationto otherteam members.As a centralised role, engagement will be via a common law contract rather than a Victorian Health EBA.
