Job summary

Hutchinson Public Schools is seeking an ELL Education Assistant & Student Supervisor at the Middle School for the 2026-2027 school year and beyond. The ELL Education Assistant works closely with ELL teachers and interpreters to provide academic and language support.

The role includes one-to-one or small group instruction and progress recordkeeping, with supervision during non-classroom times. Candidates proficient in a second language, preferably Spanish, are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

• Associates Degree or 60 semester credits or passing score on a state-approved test (ParaEducator/ParaPro).
• CompetencyGrid (can be completed upon hire).
• Employment contingent on satisfactory pre-employment background check, school board approval, and meeting qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Develop strong professional relationships with ELL students and families.
• Maintain confidentiality per district data privacy policy.
• Collaborate with teachers and staff to identify problems and aid in problem-solving.
• Support students one-on-one or in small groups to reinforce language and content skills.
• Help with progress recording and informal assessments as directed by the teacher.
• Attend staff development meetings and implement feedback from teachers and principals.
• Provide interpretation and translation services as needed across the district.
