Beyond Byron E-Bikes in Mooball, NSW, is seeking a versatile Bicycle / E-Bike Mechanic & Operations All-Rounder for a full-time or high-hour permanent part-time role. Based at our workshop and hire hub, you’ll enjoy a modern facility with a busy weekend schedule and guaranteed hours.

You will service premium European e-bikes, perform diagnostics, assemble new bikes, assist hires, and help customers with repairs and sales using our online booking system.

Qualifications

• Proven hands-on bicycle mechanic experience in shop, fleet, or home workshop.
• Experience with hydraulic disc brakes, internal hub gears, belt drives, and modern e-bike drive systems (Bosch diagnostic experience a bonus).
• Australian Driver Licence; ability to drive a light van with trailer if required.

Bicycle Mechanic & E Bike Hire Assistant

Beyond Byron E-Bikes is the premier e-bike hire, servicing, and retail specialist in Mooball, operating directly alongside the bustling Northern Rivers Rail Trail.

We run an extensive, modern fleet of premium European electric bicycles (primarily Bosch-powered Kalkhoff and Focus models) alongside a dedicated customer repair workshop and retail operation. We are seeking a versatile, skilled, and dependable Bicycle / E-Bike Mechanic & Operations All-Rounder on either a Full-Time (38 hrs) or High-Hour Permanent Part-Time (30–34 hrs) basis with guaranteed weekly hours. The core roster runs Monday to Thursday (full workshop days) plus Saturday morning, giving you guaranteed Sunday and Friday rest days alongside your Saturday afternoons free.

Location & Commute

This role is based on-site at our workshop and hire hub in Mooball, NSW. Applicants must have their own reliable transport and reside within a realistic, daily commuting distance (ideally within 30–40 minutes, e.g., Tweed Valley, Murwillumbah, Pottsville, Ocean Shores, Mullumbimby, or Southern Gold Coast).

Key responsibilities

• Fleet Maintenance & Workshop Diagnostics: Keep our premium hire fleet running smoothly. Perform preventative servicing, hydraulic disc brake bleeds, internal gear hub adjustments (Shimano Nexus), belt drive tensioning (Gates Carbon Drive), and Bosch electronic system diagnostics.
• New Bike Assembly & PDI: Unbox, assemble, tune, and perform Pre-Delivery Inspections (PDI) on brand-new retail e-bikes.
• Hire Operations & Customer Briefings: Team up with our hire crew (especially on busy Saturday mornings) to greet trail riders, fit helmets, size bikes, deliver friendly operating orientations, and check bikes back in.
• Retail Sales & Customer Advice: Provide practical, honest, and knowledgeable advice to customers looking to purchase their own new e-bike or book in workshop repairs using our online booking system (Hubtiger).
• Trail Logistics: Assist with occasional local drop-offs, pickups, or trail rescues using the company vehicle and bike trailer.

About you

• Proven hands-on bicycle mechanic experience (bike shop, fleet workshop, or high-level home wrenching).
• Experience with (or strong mechanical aptitude to learn) hydraulic disc brakes, internal hub gears, belt drives, and modern e-bike drive systems (Bosch diagnostic experience is a major bonus).
• Friendly, patient, and approachable. You genuinely enjoy helping everyday people, families, and seniors discover the rail trail.
• Current, valid Australian Driver Licence. Confident driving a light commercial van with or without a bike trailer (must meet vehicle insurance requirements, typically 25+).
• Available to work through our peak operational periods (NSW/QLD school holidays and long weekend peaks), with annual leave scheduled during off-peak times.
