Job summary

GPE in Melbourne is seeking an experienced Asset Operations Manager to oversee a growing Australian BESS portfolio. This senior owner-side role focuses on safety, reliability and commercial optimisation across assets and contracts, without hands-on engineering duties.

You will guide site teams and contractors, influence lifecycle planning and shape the long-term internalisation strategy. The role demands strong leadership, commercial acumen, and a track record in asset operations for large

Qualifications

Significant experience in asset operations or asset management within BESS, renewable energy, or major electrical infra.
Strong experience administering O&M contracts and OEM service agreements.
Sound commercial and contractual judgement with regulatory reporting exposure.
Knowledge of NER obligations, SOCI/CIRMP, and regulatory interfaces.
Experience managing asset-performance KPIs, budgets and contractor performance.

Responsibilities

Own portfolio-level operational performance including availability and reliability.
Manage O&M contractors, OEMs and LTSA performance and service obligations.
Oversee operating budgets, OPEX forecasts and cost optimisation.
Coordinate forward outage strategies with contractors and Trading teams.
Provide owner oversight of HSE, electrical safety, regulatory compliance.
Ensure SOCI/CIRMP, NER and security obligations are reflected in arrangements.
Establish clear Operations–Trading interface and reporting to senior management.
