Job summary

The Place Occupational Therapy and Family Support in Highfields, QLD, is seeking a Behaviour Support Practitioner assessed at Proficient level or above to deliver ethical, person‑centred services within a growing multidisciplinary team.

You will conduct Functional Behaviour Assessments, develop Behaviour Support Plans and guide families, schools and support teams through implementation, with strong governance and supervision support.

Qualifications

• Current suitability assessment as an NDIS Behaviour Support Practitioner at Proficient level or above.
• Experience conducting Functional Behaviour Assessments and developing Behaviour Support Plans.
• Strong understanding of the NDIS Behaviour Support framework, restrictive practices and reporting requirements.
• Genuine commitment to person‑centred, rights‑based and neuroaffirming practice.
• Strong written communication and report writing skills.

Responsibilities

• Conducting Functional Behaviour Assessments.
• Developing Interim and Comprehensive Behaviour Support Plans.
• Identifying, reviewing and supporting the reduction of restrictive practices.
• Gathering information through interviews, observations, records and collaborative assessment.
• Providing implementation support, coaching and education to families, carers, schools and support teams.
• Monitoring outcomes and adjusting strategies based on the person’s changing needs.
• Working collaboratively with participants, families, providers and multidisciplinary teams.
• Supporting the development of ethical, practical and sustainable Behaviour Support services.
• Maintaining documentation and practice requirements in line with the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission.
