Job summary

Centacare is seeking an experienced Behaviour Support Practitioner to join our team in Woolloongabba. This full-time role includes conducting functional assessments, PBSPs, and collaboration with families and support networks in a hybrid working arrangement.

Qualifications

• Minimum bachelor’s degree in Social work, Psychology, Behavioural Sciences, Education or other relevant qualification.
• Must hold existing registration as a Core or Proficient Level Behaviour Support Practitioner.
• At least 3 years of demonstrated experience in a Behaviour Support role, with children experience highly regarded.
• Strong understanding of applied behaviour analysis and trauma-informed practices.
• Proven ability to exercise sound, evidence-based judgment, analyse client records, and write PBSPs and reports.
• Requirements: Driver’s Licence, Blue Card, NDIS Worker Screening, AFP history check, right to work in Australia.

Responsibilities

• Conduct intake and comprehensive functional assessments with families and stakeholders.
• Develop PBSPs in accordance with legislative requirements for clients.
• Communicate emergency and contingency plans and PBSP strategies to stakeholders.
• Provide expert advice on managing challenging behaviours and enhancing quality of life.
• Maintain accurate documentation and report progress to the Allied Health and PBS Manager.

Job Title: Behaviour Support Practitioner

Location: Woolloongabba Office (Hybrid - WFH available) + Travel across Metro North, Caboolture & Redlands.

Employment Type: Full-time (37.5 hours/week)

Salary: $88,000 + Superannuation + Not for Profit Salary Packaging

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct intake and comprehensive functional assessments, including direct observation and consultation with key stakeholders (families, support workers, informal decision-makers).
• Develop Positive Behaviour Support Plans (PBSPs) in accordance with legislative requirements for clients.
• Develop and communicate emergency and contingency plans, positive behaviour support strategies to relevant stakeholders, to ensure appropriate support for PBSP implementation.
• Provide expert, timely advice on managing challenging behaviours and recommending strategies that enhance the client's overall quality of life.
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation of all client outputs and assessments, promptly reporting progress or unmet targets to the Allied Health and PBS Manager.

Skills And Experience

• Minimum bachelor’s degree in Social work, Psychology, Behavioural Sciences, Education or other relevant qualification.
• Must hold existing registration as a Core or Proficient Level Behaviour Support Practitioner.
• At least 3 years of demonstrated experience in a Behaviour Support role, with specific experience working with children highly regarded.
• Strong understanding of applied behaviour analysis and trauma-informed practices.
• Proven ability to exercise sound, evidence-based judgment, analyse client records, and write comprehensive reports and PBSPs.
• Requirements: Ability to obtain and maintain a current Driver’s License, Blue Card, NDIS Worker Screening Clearance, an Australian Federal Police criminal history check, and evidence of the right to work in Australia.
