Job summary

Bear Cottage, part of the Sydney Children's Hospitals Network, is seeking an Assistant in Nursing for a temporary part-time role to support the RN and Allied Health team in delivering holistic care to children.

This role offers 18 hours per week with a base salary range of 65,150.16–71,479.42 full-time equivalent, plus superannuation, leave loading and salary packaging. Applications close 26 September 2026; WWCC and vaccination requirements apply.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children or in the disability sector is desirable.
• AIN role operates under supervision of a Registered Nurse in a team setting.
• Must meet NSW Health vaccination and WWCC requirements.

Bear Cottage Children's Hospice is situated in MANLY. Bear Cottage cares for children with life limiting illnesses and their families providing respite, symptom management and end of life care in a home like environment. We are looking for an assistant in nursing to work alongside our Registered Nurses and Allied Health Team in providing holistic nursing care to the children we care for. Experience working in the disability sector or with children is desirable.

What You’ll Be Doing

The Assistant in Nursing (AIN) role assists in the provision of basic nursing care, working within a plan of care under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) within a team setting. AIN’s are not to be allocated their own patients. AIN’s are not to be assigned patients where one to one therapeutic nursing supervision is prescribed.

The AIN is responsible for assisting in the delivery of quality individualised care to patients at The Sydney Children's Hospitals Network (SCHN) within the guidelines set by the NSW Department of Health, the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Council Framework, The SCHN – Division of Nursing and within the limits of the AIN position description.

The AIN Will

• Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
• Demonstrate ethical behaviour in their performance
• Understand and respect patients’ rights.
• Provide evidence of completion of annual mandatory training.
• Practice within the NSW Health guidelines, the position description and guidelines for the SCHN and are required to adhere to Policies and Procedures.
• Adhere to the NSW Health Code of Conduct.
