Job summary

China Merchants Bank is seeking an Operations Officer in Sydney to support day-to-day banking operations, including account administration, payments and settlements, treasury and loan operations, and client onboarding.

The role requires sharp attention to detail, adherence to regulatory requirements, and effective collaboration with internal teams. A Bachelor’s degree and 1–2 years of relevant experience are preferred; proficiency in English and Mandarin is essential.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years of relevant banking operations experience is preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree is required or higher.
• Proficiency in English and Mandarin, written and spoken.

Responsibilities

• Process client onboarding and account opening, maintenance and closure, and handle deposit-related transactions and administration.
• Process inward and outward domestic payments and clearing transactions, including agency arrangements.
• Process inward and outward international payments and telegraphic transfers, including SWIFT messages.
• Perform treasury back-office activities, including transaction confirmation, matching, settlement and reconciliation.
• Perform loan back-office activities, including loan drawdowns, repayments, settlements, and interest/fee processing.
• Maintain accurate operational records, registers and supporting documentation; assist with regular and ad hoc reports.
• Identify and escalate transaction discrepancies, operational issues, exceptions and risks to supervisors.
• Assist with internal and external audit, compliance and operational reviews.
