Job summary

Whizdom is seeking an experienced API Engineer in Sydney with a hybrid working model. You will contribute to end-to-end API program delivery, working with business stakeholders, developers, and delivery teams to define requirements, document API solutions, and build robust integrations.

The role focuses on API design, microservices, and DevOps practices in a banking/financial services environment. You will mentor junior consultants and collaborate across workshops and delivery engagements.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering API frameworks and integrations.
• Strong API design and functional specification skills.
• Understanding of microservices design principles.
• Experience in banking/financial services projects (advantageous).

Responsibilities

• Contribute to end-to-end delivery of the API program.
• Participate in requirements discussions with stakeholders.
• Finalize functional specifications and interface documentation.
• Define functional requirements for new services with business teams.
• Collaborate with leads and stakeholders during reviews and sign-offs.
• Document changes within an Agile delivery environment.
• Produce API requirements, designs and specifications.
• Apply microservices design to API and integration solutions.
• Design and develop interfaces that integrate systems and technologies.
• Collaborate with development teams on technical ideas and applications.
• Support workshops and delivery engagements for consultants.
• Mentor junior consultants.
• Remediate code quality, security and design-pattern issues.
