Job summary

ButterBoy Byron Bay is seeking a passionate Retail Baker to join our crew in Byron Bay. The role involves preparing, baking and finishing products to ButterBoy’s exact recipes, hitting daily production targets, and maintaining quality.

You’ll also handle ingredient prep, stock monitoring, waste minimisation, and food-safety compliance. Customer-facing duties include greeting customers, sharing product knowledge, and assisting Front of House during peak times.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of bakery/kitchen experience.
• Commercial cookery or pastry qualification.
• Knowledge of baking techniques, ingredients and equipment.
• Ability to follow recipes accurately.
• Attention to detail and quality.
• Strong communication and team attitude.
• FSS certificate preferred.

Responsibilities

• Hit daily production targets without compromising quality.

In the Bakery

• Prepare, bake and finish our bakery products to ButterBoy’s exact recipes and standards
• Work efficiently to hit daily production targets without cutting corners on quality
• Help with ingredient prep, mixing, shaping, baking and packing
• Keep an eye on stock levels and flag anything running low
• Minimise waste and rotate stock like a pro
• Keep your workstation and equipment spotless, organised and food-safety compliant
• Lend a hand across the team (and occasionally across our stores) to keep things running smoothly

With Our Customers

• Greet customers with that famous Byron warmth when you’re out front
• Share your product knowledge and answer questions about our bakes
• Jump in to help the Front of House crew during the rush — serving, packaging, and keeping the counter humming
• Help create a welcoming bakery experience customers want to come back for

What You’ll Bring

• 2+ years’ experience in a similar bakery or kitchen environment
• A commercial cookery or pastry qualification (or solid hands-on experience in its place)
• Strong knowledge of baking techniques, ingredients and equipment
• The ability to follow recipes accurately and consistently
• A sharp eye for detail and a genuine commitment to quality
• Great communication skills and a team-first attitude
• NSW Food Safety Supervisor (FSS) Certificate (preferred)
