Job summary

Employer Sponsored Jobs in Brisbane is seeking an experienced Baker to lead daily production of breads, pastries and cakes in-house. The role is permanent and full-time (38 hours per week) with opportunities to supervise junior staff as the business grows. Visa sponsorship is available for the right candidate.

The baker will plan daily production, check materials, bake and decorate, and ensure quality. Early mornings, weekends and rotating rosters are required.

Qualifications

• Certificate III/IV in Baking or Patisserie or higher qualification in patisserie/culinary arts.
• At least 1 year experience as Baker or Pastry Chef in a commercial bakery/kitchen.
• Strong pastry, cake production and decorating skills.
• Willingness to work early mornings, weekends, rotating roster.

Responsibilities

• Plan the day's production to stock the cabinet before opening.
• Check raw materials for quality and measure ingredients per run.
• Make doughs, batters, fillings; mould and portion breads, cakes and tarts.
• Set up trays, run ovens; control heat and bake times.
• Decorate with icing, fondant and sugar paste; design custom celebration cakes.
• Price, package and present products for display.
• Operate and clean bakery equipment per safety standards.
• Support recipe and product development; supervise junior bakers.

Job description

An established Brisbane bakery café needs an experienced Baker to take charge of daily production and finished cake and pastry work. Everything on its counter, from bread to pastries and cakes, is baked in-house each day, and customers also order custom celebration cakes.

• Strong practical pastry, cake production and decorating skills
• Sound food safety and hygiene knowledge, and willingness to work early mornings, weekends and a rotating roster
• Desirable: experience with fondant and designing custom cakes
• Desirable: experience supervising a kitchen or leading a team
• Desirable: background in a bakery or café serving customers directly
