Job summary

Mitti in Sydney is seeking a Software Engineer II to design, build and maintain backend services for a large-scale SaaS platform. You’ll own features end-to-end, collaborate with product and design, and apply AI-assisted tooling to improve automation and user experiences.

You'll work in a hybrid environment with time at our HQ in Surry Hills, Sydney, and benefit from equity and flexible working arrangements as part of a fast-growing team.

Qualifications

• Solid experience in a back-end programming language and framework with growing expertise in building scalable systems.
• Practical experience owning and delivering software features end-to-end in a collaborative environment.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS and databases like PostgreSQL.
• Understanding of distributed systems concepts and datastore design principles.
• User-centric approach and commitment to clean, maintainable code.
• Experience in fast-paced SaaS-oriented teams and environments.
• Comfort with ambiguity and solving problems beyond individual tickets.
• Experience using AI coding assistants as part of the workflow.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain backend services in a large-scale SaaS platform, including distributed systems and data stores.
• Take ownership of features from inception to delivery, collaborating with stakeholders, product, and design.
• Use a stack including Golang, AWS, PostgreSQL, and Kafka, plus datastore design and data warehousing.
• Participate in code reviews, testing, and continuous improvement of team processes.
• Apply practical understanding of AI technologies to automate or enrich features.
• Maintain a user-centric approach to ensure better experiences, even platform-facing work.
• Work in a hybrid environment with time at the HQ in Surry Hills, Sydney.
