Job summary

Marlin Human Capital is partnering with a leading Australian energy infrastructure organisation to uplift its Azure cloud-foundation for the Microsoft Fabric data-platform programme. The role is a pivotal architecture assurance position that reviews, challenges and guides vendor designs to establish a secure, scalable Azure foundation ready for build.

You will work with delivery partners, platform owners and senior stakeholders to assess designs, identify gaps and endorse them through

Qualifications

• Senior Azure architect with enterprise-scale cloud experience.
• Experience delivering or assuring cloud foundations.
• Strong Azure networking expertise (hub-spoke, vWAN, ExpressRoute).
• Knowledge of Entra ID, Azure Policy, Defender and cloud governance.
• IaC, DevOps, monitoring experience; ability to review HLDs/LLDs.

Responsibilities

• Independently review vendor Azure architecture and design docs.
• Apply CAF and Well-Architected Framework to assess decisions.
• Review networking, identity, security and governance designs.
• Provide actionable recommendations and align stakeholders for endorsement.

Job description

We are partnering with a leading Australian energy infrastructure organisation undertaking a major Azure cloud-foundation uplift to enable its Microsoft Fabric data-platform programme.

This is a pivotal architecture assurance role supporting vendor-led delivery. Rather than producing the detailed solution design, you will independently review, challenge and guide it—helping establish a secure, scalable Azure foundation that is ready for build.

The Opportunity

You will work closely with delivery partners, platform owners and senior stakeholders to assess designs, identify gaps and support endorsement through architecture governance forums.

The immediate priority is complex Azure networking and hybrid connectivity, followed by identity, security and cloud governance. Your ability to challenge constructively and build stakeholder alignment will help keep the programme moving without compromising design quality.

Key Responsibilities

• Independently review and assure vendor-produced Azure architecture and design documentation.
• Apply Microsoft Cloud Adoption Framework and Well-Architected Framework principles to assess design decisions.
• Review networking, on-premises connectivity, identity, security and operational designs.
• Provide practical recommendations and align stakeholders to support timely design endorsement.

About You

You are a senior Azure architect with proven experience delivering or assuring enterprise-scale, greenfield cloud foundations. You combine technical depth with the confidence to challenge delivery partners constructively.

• You bring strong Azure networking expertise across hub-spoke or vWAN, ExpressRoute, DNS and Azure Firewall.
• You understand Entra ID, access controls, Azure Policy, Defender and cloud governance.
• You have experience with Infrastructure as Code, DevOps practices and Azure monitoring.
• You confidently review HLDs and LLDs, engage senior stakeholders and present to architecture review forums.

Experience connecting Azure to modern data platforms such as Fabric, Databricks or Snowflake is valuable. Microsoft Fabric exposure is advantageous, but not essential.
