Job summary

Valuelabs in Australia’s New South Wales is seeking a skilled AWS Security Engineer to design and implement secure cloud infrastructure and manage access controls. The role requires hands-on experience with IAM, encryption, threat detection, and compliance across ISO 27001, SOC 2, and GDPR frameworks.

You will collaborate with internal teams to enforce security standards, perform audits, and ensure timely patching and secure configurations for OS, databases, and applications.

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of AWS security services and best practices.
• Experience designing IAM policies, roles, and least-privilege access.
• Knowledge of network security concepts (VPNs, firewalls, TLS).
• Experience with vulnerability management, patching and remediations.
• Experience with security monitoring, threat detection and incident response.
• Familiarity with data protection and encryption for data in transit and at rest.
• Awareness of ISO 27001, SOC 2, GDPR or similar standards.
• Knowledge of secrets and certificate management.
• Ability to conduct security reviews, audits, and risk assessments.
• Understanding backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity best practices.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement secure cloud infrastructure following AWS security best practices.
• Manage IAM users, roles, policies, and access reviews.
• Implement and maintain encryption, key management, and secure credential handling.
• Monitor security events and investigate potential vulnerabilities or threats.
• Perform regular security assessments, audits, and compliance checks.
• Ensure operating systems, databases, and applications are regularly patched and secured.
• Configure and maintain network security controls, including firewalls and access restrictions.
• Support incident response activities and security remediation efforts.
• Collaborate with internal teams to enforce security standards and policies.
• Maintain security documentation, procedures, and compliance evidence.
