Job summary

Fairhill Gardens Café on the Sunshine Coast is seeking a chef with breakfast and brunch expertise. You will work alongside French chefs, running breakfast and lunch services with autonomy on busy days.

Join a kitchen focused on local, seasonal and indigenous ingredients in a garden setting. Full-time or part-time hours, with emphasis on consistency and growth, and no sponsorships offered.

Qualifications

• Experience in a commercial breakfast, brunch or short-order kitchen.
• Ability to independently run a service when required.
• Strong breakfast skills, including poaching eggs.
• Interest in fresh Australian, French and Asia–Pacific flavours.
• Passion for local produce, sustainability and paddock-to-plate cooking.
• Understanding of HACCP, WHS and Australian food-safety requirements.
• High standards of cleanliness, organisation and food quality.
• Calm, solutions-focused approach under pressure.
• Clear and respectful communication with colleagues and suppliers.
• Creativity and willingness to contribute ideas to grow the business.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and deliver consistently high-quality food during service.
• Independently run breakfast and lunch services after training.
• Maintain presentation, portion control and service efficiency.
• Uphold food safety and workplace hygiene standards.
• Collaborate with management on preparation systems and menus.
• Communicate clearly to ensure smooth service.
• Support a calm, fast, hardworking kitchen culture.
• Suggest ideas for seasonal dishes and new dining experiences.
• Contribute to the destination hospitality experience.
