Job summary

Hervey Bay Mechanical is seeking an automotive mechanic or a motivated 2nd/3rd-year apprentice to join our friendly Urangan workshop. You will carry out servicing, repairs and diagnostics across a wide range of vehicles, with a Monday–Friday schedule and no weekend work.

You will diagnose faults, perform servicing and repairs, communicate about required parts, and maintain a clean, safe workspace while contributing to a supportive team. Own tools and a valid drivers licence are required.

Automotive Mechanic or 2nd/3rd-Year Apprentice

Are you a qualified mechanic—or a switched-on 2nd or 3rd-year apprentice—who can diagnose a problem without immediately firing the parts cannon?

Hervey Bay Mechanical is looking for a reliable and motivated person to join our friendly workshop team. We want someone who takes pride in their work, uses initiative and understands that putting the tools back is almost as important as finding the missing 10mm socket.

About the role

This is a permanent full-time position working Monday to Friday, with no weekend work. You’ll carry out a variety of servicing, mechanical repairs and diagnostic work across a wide range of vehicles.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults
• General servicing, maintenance and repairs
• Completing work efficiently and to a high standard
• Working independently while supporting the rest of the team
• Communicating clearly about faults, repairs and required parts
• Keeping your work area clean, organised and safe
• Helping solve problems—not simply creating new ones

About you

We’re looking for someone who:

• Is a qualified automotive mechanic or a capable 2nd/3rd-year apprentice
• Has good diagnostic and problem-solving abilities
• Takes pride in producing quality workmanship
• Is reliable, punctual and self-motivated
• Shows initiative and isn’t afraid to suggest better ways of doing things
• Works well independently and as part of a team
• Has their own tools, reliable transport and a current driver’s licence
• Can enjoy some workshop banter while still getting the job done
