Job summary

Simplot Company in Devonport, TAS, is seeking a Control Systems Programmer to join our Engineering team at the North West Tasmania facility. You will develop and optimise PLC, SCADA and HMI systems, support automation projects and work with production and maintenance to improve reliability.

Based at our Devonport site, you will drive continuous improvement through advanced automation, while ensuring safety, documentation and change management are maintained to corporate standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical/Mechatronics/Automation or equivalent
• Experience in industrial automation and programming
• Experience with PLC/SCADA platforms (Allen-Bradley preferred)
• Proficiency in Python and SQL programming
• Proficient electrical CAD skills
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to work independently and in teams
• Willingness to undergo pre-employment medical and drug screen

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain and optimise PLC, SCADA and HMI systems across the site
• Diagnose and resolve control system faults to minimise downtime
• Support the implementation and commissioning of automation projects
• Deliver continuous improvement through automation and process optimisation
• Collaborate with Engineering, Production and Maintenance teams
• Maintain control system documentation, backups and change management
• Provide technical support to site personnel
• Participate in capital projects and system upgrades
• Support safe work practices and continuous improvement
