Job summary

Commonwealth Bank is seeking a Control Assurance Manager within Retail Bank's Controls and Customer Outcomes team to drive automated controls and stronger risk governance. You will develop and enhance an end-to-end control assurance framework, integrate continuous assurance, and coordinate CAP testing across Line 1 teams.

The role focuses on designing, implementing, and embedding robust controls, using advanced analytics, and partnering with stakeholders to achieve sustainable risk improvements

• Strong background in operational risk management, with expertise in Automated Control Assurance, benchmarking, and advanced analytical procedures.
• Ability to influence and consult, building relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
• Aptitude to analyse risks/opportunities and recommend actions.
• Exposure to AI-driven control testing is desirable.
• Critical, analytical thinking with data-driven problem solving for risk and assurance outcomes.

• Ensuring the effective design of automated controls for new and changing processes and support the business through the implementation.
• Supporting RBS in the design, development, and embedment of a continuous assurance model.
• Conducting and managing Control Assurance Program (CAP) testing, including the development of test scripts, and report on assurance findings.

The Control Assurance Manager will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and enhancing the automated control assurance framework for Retail Banking Services (RBS) Line 1 teams. The Control Assurance and Innovation team is responsible for ensuring that strong controls are in place and decisions are well informed, timely and socialised. They achieve this through providing an end-to-end risk and control service, including the effective design & implementation of controls, ensuring the operational risk & compliance frameworks are effectively implemented in their Domains and ensuring each BU LT has the right level of comfort and governance within their risk environment.

In any given week you will be responsible for:

• Supporting RBS to design and implement automated controls enabling better risk and compliance outcomes.
• Ensuring the effective design of automated controls for new and changing processes and operations and support the business through the implementation.

• Experience in automated control testing including continuous monitoring; exposure to AI-driven control testing is desirable.
