Job summary

Hercules Plastics in Arndell Park, Sydney NSW, is seeking an experienced AutoCAD drafter who can hit the ground running and contribute across the full job lifecycle, not just the drawing.

You will prepare 2D drawings for our CNC router, oversee job progression from drawing to workshop, estimate jobs from client drawings, assist with scheduling, liaise with clients and builders, and maintain accurate records. The role requires a proactive doer attitude and strong communication.

Qualifications

• 3+ years experience in drafting or related role (e.g. tank drafting, plastics fabrication, sheet metal).
• Proficient in AutoCAD and able to produce accurate drawings independently from day one.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, and the confidence to discuss problems with the team.

Responsibilities

• Prepare 2D AutoCAD drawings for CNC routing, including plastic tank drafting.
• Follow jobs through to the workshop: verify machine setup against drawings.
• Estimate jobs from client drawings and assist with scheduling and client liaison.
• Keep records and documentation up to date.

We’re a small, friendly plastic fabricator in Western Sydney, making high-quality plastic products for industries ranging from medical and food-beverage to mining and nuclear. Established in 1996, we’ve built our reputation on innovative design and staying ahead of the curve.

We need an experienced AutoCAD drafter who can hit the ground running and wants to be part of the whole job, not just the drawing.

What you’ll be doing

Preparing 2D AutoCAD drawings for our CNC router, including plastic tank drafting

Following jobs through to the workshop: checking machine setup and finished work against your drawings

Taking the initiative to spot problems early and fixing them together with the team

Estimating jobs from client-supplied drawings

Assisting with job scheduling and liaising with clients and builders

Keeping records and documentation up to date

What you’ll need

3+ years’ experience in a relevant drafting or trade role, e.g. tank drafting, plastic fabrication, design, airflow, chemicals, sheet metal, ducting, or similar

Proficient in AutoCAD, able to produce accurate drawings independently from day one

Excellent written and verbal communication, and the confidence to speak up and work through problems with the team

A proactive “doer” attitude: you see an issue and act on it, rather than waiting to be told

Plastics fabrication or plastic welding background

Experience and attitude. We need someone who knows their craft and can work independently, with minimal learning required.

This is a hands‑on role: we don’t want someone whose job is done once the drawing is issued.
