Job summary

SMW-Shutdowns, Maintenance & Welding in Central Queensland seeks an experienced Auto Electrician to join a skilled mechanical maintenance team. You will service fleet and heavy equipment, perform electrical testing, and ensure safety and quality in a field service environment.

The role requires trade qualification, 2+ years post-trade experience, and strong communication skills. This is a full-time, permanent position based on-site with site-based and workshop duties in a heavy industry setting.

Qualifications

• Trade qualified Auto Electrician
• Ability to electrically test installations under the Act
• Minimum two years post-trade experience, preferably in Electrical Mining and maintenance
• Site-based experience in engineering and construction or heavy industry
• Understanding of trades and disciplines in workshop and site operations
• Written communication skills
• Clear, effective communication with a range of people

Responsibilities

• Carry out works in accordance with regulations
• Ensure safety and environmental responsibilities at all times
• Produce quality workmanship at all times
• Liaise with leading hand and supervisor to improve processes
• Coordinate repairs with Field/workshop Electrical Supervisor as required
• Report all Electrical Incidents to Electrical Supervisor
• Communicate with client representatives professionally
• Meet contract time schedules and maximise efficiency
• Maintain communication within the workshop operation team
• Undertake other tasks to support the project or business operation

Job Description

Our valued client SMW-Shutdowns, Maintenance & Welding is a proud Central Queensland provider of field servicing, maintenance and emergency repair/ rebuild services with over 10 years’ experience servicing the Central Queensland region. They are currently seeking an experienced Auto Electrician to join their highly skilled and qualified mechanical maintenance team in servicing and maintaining fleet and heavy equipment.

Key Accountabilities

• Carry our works in accordance with associated regulations
• Ensure compliance to safety and environmental requirements and responsibilities at all times
• Produce quality workmanship at all times
• Liaise with the leading hand and supervisor to identify opportunities to improve processes and work performance
• Liaise with Field/ workshop Electrical Supervisor as to repairs required
• Report all Electrical Incidents to Electrical Supervisor
• Communicate with client representatives when required in a professional and courteous manner
• Meet contract time schedule and maximise efficiency and productivity
• Maintain communication and cooperative relationships within the workshop operation team
• Undertake other tasks to support the project or business operation as required
