Job summary

Bus Queensland Park Ridge Transit Pty Ltd is seeking a workshop-qualified auto electrician to join the ParkRidge maintenance team. You will support the reliability and safety of the bus fleet, performing diagnosis and repairs on electrical systems, CCTV, radios, and doors, with a focus on accurate workshop records.

The role requires AQF Certificate III (or AQF IV) and MR/HR licences, with experience in fleet maintenance and the ability to work alone or as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Maintain electrical and ancillary systems fitted to the bus fleet, including CCTV and two-way radios.
• Repair and maintain electrical and auxiliary systems using test equipment to locate faults and install equipment.
• Carry out repairs per manufacturer specifications and applicable standards.
• Fault finding, diagnosis and general repairs.
• Accurate entry to the workshop database.

About the role

To assist the Workshop Manager in maximising the reliability, safety, efficiency and availability of the bus fleet. Provide technical skills in the field of auto-electrics to support the repair and maintenance of the bus fleet.

Primary duties and responsibilities include:

• Maintain a high level of knowledge of electrical and axillary systems fitted to the bus fleet including CCTV systems, two-way radios and door systems;
• Repair and maintain electrical and auxiliary systems fitted to the bus fleet using test equipment to locate electrical and electronic malfunctions; dismantling and removing electrical and electronic assemblies and components; installing electrical equipment and electronic components in buses; connecting power-operated vehicle equipment and accessories to power supply; adjusting engine control systems and timing testing and replacing defective alternators, generators, voltage regulators and starter motors; repairing and replacing faulty ignition and electrical wiring; replacing defective parts such as fuses, lamps and switches;
• Carry out repairs and maintenance as per the Manufacturer’s specifications, National Heavy Vehicle Inspection Manual and any applicable legislation or vehicle standards;
• Fault finding, diagnosis and general repairs;
• Ensuring accurate and up to date entry to the workshop database.

Skills and experience

To be successful candidates will need to demonstrate:

• Minimum of AQF Certificate III including at least two years of on-the-job training, or AQF Certificate IV (ANZSCO Skill Level 3).
• Experience in fleet maintenance programs;
• Ability to work independently and or as part of a team;
• Problem solving skills, strategic thinker, attention to detail;
• Ability to work shift work;
• Hold a valid MR/HR licence
