Job summary

Peak Energy, Inc. is expanding into Australia with a frontier role for a Business Development Director.

You will lead commercial efforts, build a local presence from scratch, and secure key customers, partnerships, and long‑term agreements across utilities, IPPs, and government bodies. The role reports to the VP of Business Development and Project Finance, with autonomy to shape Peak Energy’s presence and pipeline for grid‑scale storage nationwide.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of business development, sales, or commercial origination experience, with substantial experience in the Australian energy sector.
• Strong understanding of the Australian National Electricity Market (NEM) and state renewable programs.
• Established network across utilities, IPPs, buyers, developers, and government.
• Proven track record of closing complex, long‑term commercial agreements in Australia.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute a market entry and growth strategy for Peak Energy in Australia.
• Stand up Peak Energy's commercial presence in Australia from a blank slate.
• Lead business development across Australia, owning the pipeline from first contact to contract close.
• Identify, engage, and build relationships with key decision-makers across energy procurement, sustainability, and C-suite functions.
• Structure, negotiate, and close complex commercial arrangements for battery storage and energy services.
• Manage strategic partnerships to accelerate market entry and de-risk early projects.
• Build relationships with government stakeholders to align with energy transition priorities.
• Translate market dynamics into commercial positioning and deal structures.
• Partner with internal teams to develop locally compliant battery storage solutions.
