Job summary

Xcite Audio Visual in Sydney is seeking an experienced Audio Visual Technician to join the projects team. This hands-on role covers installation, commissioning and fault-finding of professional AV systems across commercial projects.

You will collaborate with Project Managers, Engineers and fellow technicians, reading schematics, setting out equipment, and ensuring work meets Xcite AV standards. A minimum of 3 years' industry experience and strong fault-dinding skills are essential.

Qualifications

• At least 3 years' experience as an Audio Visual Technician in a commercial AV setting.
• Ability to read technical AV drawings and schematics.
• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
• Current Australian Driver Licence and White Card.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret AV schematics, floor plans, reflected ceiling plans and elevations.
• Set out and install displays, projectors, screens, loudspeakers, cameras and LED video walls.
• Build and dress equipment racks to a high standard.
• Complete equipment terminations, patching and labelling.
• Install and terminate structured AV cabling.
• Configure and assist with network-connected AV equipment.
• Record equipment information including serial numbers, MAC addresses, IP information and device locations.
• Assist with system commissioning and programming.
• Test completed systems and carry out fault finding.
• Coordinate with builders, electricians and other trades on site.
• Identify installation or design issues and communicate them to the Project Manager.
• Maintain a high standard of workmanship, organisation and site presentation.
• Supervise technicians, apprentices and subcontractors where required.
• Ensure installations are completed in accordance with Xcite AV standards and project documentation.

The Role

Due to continued growth in our Sydney office, we are looking for an experienced Audio Visual Technician to join our projects team.

This is a hands-on role working across a range of commercial AV projects throughout Sydney. You will be involved in the installation, commissioning and fault-finding of professional audio visual systems, while working closely with Project Managers, Engineers, Programmers, other technicians and trades.

We are looking for someone who understands commercial AV, takes pride in their workmanship and can work independently when required.

For the right person, there will also be opportunities to take greater ownership of projects, supervise technicians and subcontractors, and continue developing their technical skills.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Read and interpret AV schematics, floor plans, reflected ceiling plans and elevation drawings

• Build and dress equipment racks to a high standard

About You

You will ideally have at least 3 years' experience working as an Audio Visual Technician within the commercial AV industry.

You should have a strong practical understanding of AV installation and be comfortable working with modern network-based AV systems.

Experience with technologies such as AV-over-IP, Dante, AES67, video conferencing, DSP, control systems and LED displays will be highly regarded.

You will also need:

• Ability to read and understand technical AV drawings and schematics
• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
• Good understanding of professional AV installation practices
• Ability to work independently and as part of a project team
• Good communication skills and the ability to work with clients and other trades
• Strong time management and organisational skills
• High attention to detail
• Construction Induction Card / White Card
• Current Australian Driver Licence

Experience supervising technicians or subcontractors would be an advantage.
