Job summary

Yarra City is seeking a hands-on Payroll Manager to lead end-to-end payroll for Australia and New Zealand, while guiding a small payroll team, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery.

You will manage PAYG, superannuation, leave entitlements and statutory reporting, partnering with HR and Finance to drive process improvements and uphold data integrity.

Strong AU/NZ payroll experience and stakeholder management are essential for success in this role.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in leading payroll operations across AU/NZ.
• Experience mentoring a small payroll team.
• Strong knowledge of Australian payroll legislation and statutory requirements.
• Experience with New Zealand payroll requirements is highly desirable.
• Solid understanding of PAYG, superannuation, payroll tax and leave entitlements.
• Excellent payroll reconciliation and analytical skills.
• High attention to detail and accuracy.
• Experience with payroll systems and HRIS platforms.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee end-to-end payroll processing across Australia and New Zealand.
• Lead, manage and develop a small payroll team; provide guidance and performance management.
• Ensure accurate and timely processing of regular payroll cycles.
• Ensure compliance with PAYG, superannuation, payroll tax and other statutory obligations.
• Review and approve payroll processing, reconciliations and reporting.
• Provide payroll expertise to employees and stakeholders.
• Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes, systems and controls.
• Support payroll system upgrades, enhancements and implementation projects.
• Maintain data integrity and confidentiality; develop payroll procedures and controls.
