Job summary

Mears Group is looking for a Welfare Support Officer in Perth, Scotland, to assist asylum seekers through the Home Office process. The role involves practical and emotional support, safeguarding, and close collaboration with authorities.

The successful candidate will monitor wellbeing, maintain records, and help service users access healthcare, education, and community services while upholding confidentiality and professional boundaries. Driving licence required.

Qualifications

• Strong communication skills with colleagues, service users and local authorities.
• Excellent safeguarding knowledge and ability to apply it in practice.
• Proficient IT skills for updating case notes and records.
• Hold a full UK driving licence and be willing to travel as required.

Responsibilities

• Support service users at various stages of their asylum application process.
• Address safeguarding and welfare issues appropriately and escalate when necessary.
• Provide practical and emotional support to service users.
• Monitor wellbeing and identify support needs for individuals and families.
• Ensure accurate record-keeping for audits and compliance.
• Carry out risk assessments and update support plans regularly.
• Maintain professional boundaries while providing a supportive service.
• Assist service users with accessing healthcare, education, and community services.
• Signpost to external agencies and support networks.
• Accompany service users to appointments or interviews as required.
