Job summary

Space Machines Company is seeking an Astrodynamics Engineer to bring efficient, flexible orbital dynamics computations to our online systems. You will analyze complex orbital scenarios, collaborate with Guidance, Navigation and Control, and implement best-in-class propagation techniques.

The role spans design, testing, verification, and integration, with close engagement across back-end and front-end teams to deliver robust orbital analytics for our C2 systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Aerospace Engineering, Mathematics, Physics or related field.
• 5+ years delivering complex orbital mechanics solutions.
• Familiar with various propagation algorithms and tools.
• Analytical, numerical and hybrid propagation approaches.
• Experience with MATLAB/Simulink, Python, C++, Rust, Elixir/Erlang.

Responsibilities

• Identify orbital scenarios relevant to online Command & Control systems.
• Design and test solutions using analytical, numerical, hybrid propagators and libraries.
• Determine efficient orbit change strategies; document trade-offs.
• Verify and validate proposed solutions for correctness.
• Work with back-end to integrate solutions into online systems.
• Collaborate with GNC to align capabilities with spacecraft.
