Job summary

WSP in Australia is seeking an Associate Structural Engineer to support trenchless design and underground construction capabilities across major water infrastructure projects. You will lead complex shaft, shoring and underground structure designs and guide multidisciplinary teams while engaging with clients and contractors from Melbourne, Sydney, or Brisbane.

This role involves delivering rehabilitation projects, coordinating scope, schedule and budget, and applying Safety in Design principles

Qualifications

• Degree qualification in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• CPEng, RPEQ or equivalent, or working towards chartership.
• Around 8+ years’ experience in structural, underground or water infrastructure design.
• Experience delivering technically challenging infrastructure projects.
• Strong understanding of temporary works, underground structures or asset rehabilitation.
• Ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams and manage competing priorities.
• Strong client communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Sound knowledge of Safety in Design and relevant Australian standards.
• Experience with sewer relining or rehabilitation projects will be highly regarded.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support shaft, shoring and underground structure designs.
• Assess and rehabilitate existing pipeline and water assets.
• Develop practical design solutions for constrained urban and brownfield sites.
• Support temporary and enabling works for complex underground installations.
• Work with clients and contractors to turn complex problems into clear solutions.
• Review technical reports, designs and recommendations.
• Coordinate inputs across multidisciplinary teams.
• Manage project scope, schedule and budget across multiple workstreams.
• Apply relevant standards and Safety in Design principles.
