Job summary

REA Group in Melbourne Australia is seeking an Associate Engineer to join the Content Moderation Platform squad. The role contributes to design, development, testing, deployment and maintenance of software systems in an agile cross-functional team.

You will design features, write clean code, build automated tests, and participate in code reviews while collaborating with Product Managers, Designers and other stakeholders to deliver secure and scalable solutions.

Qualifications

• Degree in computer science, software engineering or related field.
• At least 12 months of software development experience in a modern stack.
• Proficiency in at least one language such as Scala, Kotlin or Java.
• Knowledge of Agile/Kanban and cross-functional collaboration.
• Foundational full-stack development understanding and strong debugging skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and implement software features, enhancements and fixes in line with specs.
• Write clean, maintainable code and run automated tests for CI/CD pipelines.
• Participate in peer reviews to ensure quality and performance.
• Maintain and improve existing applications and resolve defects.
• Assist in monitoring and troubleshooting production issues to ensure reliability.
• Contribute to technical documentation and adhere to security practices.
• Engage in agile ceremonies and collaborate with product, design and stakeholders.
