Job description

Due to our continued growth, Piper Alderman is seeking a talented Lawyer with 2‑4 years of post‑qualified experience to join our Dispute Resolution & Litigation team. This role offers the opportunity to work on a diverse range of commercial litigation and related dispute matters. The position is a general commercial disputes role with an emphasis on contractual and corporate disputes, professional negligence, property law, wills/estates and family trust disputes, regulatory proceedings (e.g., act for Ahp​ra) and some personal injury for corporate clients.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborating with partners and senior lawyers on litigation and dispute matters
• Drafting emails, correspondence, opinions, advice, and legal documentation for court and tribunal proceedings
• Assisting with the preparation and management of files
• Conducting legal research and drafting legal documents
• Managing the discovery process including collecting, reviewing, and organising documents and evidence
• Attending court appearances and mediations

To Succeed In This Role, You Will Ideally Have

• 2‑4 years of post‑admission general litigation experience
• General commercial and corporate litigation experience is advantageous, as are associateships with the Court
• Experience in litigation in the superior state courts is advantageous, as is some experience in appearances
• An excellent academic record coupled with strong technical legal skills
• A commitment to excellence and delivery of high quality outcomes to our clients
• Ability to effectively manage your own time, managing competing tasks and work to tight deadlines
• Strong drafting skills with specific ability to draft court documents and affidavits
• A high level of attention to detail
• A team player mentality, with a supportive and collaborative working style
