The Faculty of Health Sciences and Medicine invites applications from qualified candidates interested in joining the Nutrition and Dietetics discipline as an Associate/Assistant Professor on a full-time basis and will report to the Head of Discipline of Nutrition and Dietetics. The position will contribute to the senior leadership team within the discipline through delivering high-quality learning and research experiences for students in the Master of Nutrition and Dietetic Practice Program.
The Associate/Assistant Professor will lead and coordinate postgraduate nutrition and dietetics subjects and contribute to scholarship and research that enhances student learning, professional capability, and workforce readiness. Teaching and service responsibilities for the position will be aligned to the expertise of the successful candidate.
The Master of Nutrition and Dietetic Practice program is accredited by Dietitians Australia and the Accreditation Council of Education in Nutrition and Dietetics.
The successful candidate will be an Accredited Practising Dietitian (APD) or be eligible for accreditation as a Dietitian in Australia. For appointment at Associate Professor level, the candidate will hold a Doctoral qualification with research interests synergistic with those existing within the discipline and/or Faculty. The ideal candidate will have a track record of effective teaching, learning, research and academic administration within the higher education sector.
- Hold a PhD in a relevant discipline (or substantial progress toward a PhD), with a completed PhD required for appointment at Associate Professor level
- Be an Accredited Practising Dietitian (APD) with Dietitians Australia
- Demonstrate higher education teaching experience, including curriculum design, innovative learning approaches, and authentic assessment practices
- Demonstrate research capability through publications, research supervision, collaboration, grant success, or participation in research programs
- Possess strong stakeholder engagement, communication, and leadership skills, with experience building partnerships, contributing to university service activities, and, at Associate Professor level, leading and developing teams.
- Advanced Accredited Practicing Dietitian (AdvAPD) recognition and/or being a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (US/Canada) is desirable.
The salary for this position is outlined below and will be negotiated commensurate with skills, qualifications, and experience.
- Associate Professor B remuneration commences at $173,197.62 per annum plus 12% superannuation*
- Assistant Professor A remuneration commences at $165,010.96 per annum plus 12% superannuation*
* increasing to 17.5% after a two-year probation
