Job summary

Bob Hawke College, operated by the Department of Education, Western Australia, seeks an Associate Principal, Teaching and Learning to provide educational leadership and implement inclusive practices across the college community.

Bob Hawke College opened in February 2020 to more than 250 Year 7 students and is the first high density public secondary college in Western Australia. Our pastoral care approach has been specifically designed to support young adults. Specialist staff provide students with individual support, as well as delivering social and emotional learning through CREW - our pastoral care program. The Role

In collaboration with the Principal and other members of the Strategy Team, the Associate Principal provides educational leadership in the school and the community by helping develop and promote the school values which are embedded in every aspect of the organisation.

The successful applicant would lead the Teaching and Learning portfolio, driving our commitment to inclusive education and culturally responsive practice. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in making curriculum accessible to all students, ensuring meaningful and successful outcomes for every learner in our community. This includes developing the capacity of our staff through a comprehensive professional learning framework including supporting early career and experienced teachers.

The college currently participates as a Lead School in the Department’s prestigious Quality Teaching Strategy partnership. The successful applicant would be required to represent the college through this partnership and in collaboration with our staff and former, current and aspirant partner schools. Additionally, the responsibility for leading the college’s suite of professional learning communities is incorporated in the Teaching and Learning Associate Principal’s portfolio.

The desired applicant should have excellent interpersonal and public relations skills that displays their ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships to achieve planned outcomes and to provide effective leadership in a diverse range of educational settings. The successful applicant would maintain contact with college classroom practice via a fractional timetabled teaching load, in balance with their expertise and college operational need.

Eligibility

To work with us, you must:

• be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or have a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment.
• hold registration with the Teacher Registration Board of Western Australia
• obtain a valid Working With Children Check before you start; and
• consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit before you start.
